2) Gareth Bale (Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid)
The big signing of last summer, Gareth Bale overtook Cristiano Ronaldo as the most expensive signing in football history with an £85m move from Tottenham to Real Madrid. The Welshman may not be in Ronaldo’s league yet in terms of performances, but he certainly showed plenty of promise in his first season at the Bernabeu with a strong record of 22 goals and 16 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions, showing plenty of the great trickery, pace, and eye for the spectacular that he displayed during his time at White Hart Lane. Whilst not yet registering the same figures in front of goal as Ronaldo, Bale has still shown he can score important ones for Real, with a late winner against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey and a header to put the team in front in extra time against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final.
