Alabama head coach Nick Saban was tied to rumors of becoming the next head coach for Texas, and an upcoming book is claiming that they offered $100 million.
University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban became a hot topic in Texas football circles due to rumors that he would become the Longhorns’ next head coach, reported by Fox Sports.
These rumors never came to fruition after Mack Brown resigned as the Longhorns’ head coach, and former Louisville coach Charlie Strong was hired instead.
Saban then agreed to a new contract with the Crimson Tide that will see him earn $6.9 million per year. However, a book that will soon be released claims that the Longhorns were willing to offer Saban a $100 million contract. Saban is expected to remain with the Crimson Tide through 2020 per his new deal.
The 62 year-old has led the Crimson Tide to three BCS national championships and two SEC titles, and prior to that, led LSU to a BCS national championship and two SEC championships.
“My Conference Can Beat Your Conference: Why the SEC Rules College Football” is an upcoming book written by Paul Finebaum. This book is scheduled to be released Aug. 12.
