The Portuguese midfielder was signed from Liverpool in 2011, and enjoyed a solid first season at the club, which saw him earn a Champions League medal, despite having to sit out the final. With the Blues having just shelled out £21m on former player Nemanja Matic, surely they could have just keot hold of the talented Meireles?
