8. Sourav Ganguly – 113 Tests (7212 runs, average 42.17)
Often regarded as the best Indian Test captain of all time, Ganguly led a side comprised of Tendulkar, Laxman and Dravid, to unprecedented glory. He was also pretty handy with the bat, hitting a spectacular hundred on his Test début at Lord’s. He took the captaincy in 2000 and his 144 at Brisbane in 2003 was one of the highlights of his career, as he brought the No.1 team in the world to a standstill.
