7. Dilip Vengsakar – 116 Tests (6868 runs, average 42.13)
First played for India as a 19-year-old, making his début against New Zealand in 1976, but it took the talented batsman a couple of years to establish himself in the team. Vengsakar played mostly at number three during his 15 years in the Indian side, showing his very best form in the 1980s when he was considered one of the best batsmen in the world. His 126 against a strong England side in 1986 showed his fabulous technique.
