6. Sunil Gavaskar – 125 Tests (10,122 runs, average 51.12)
Gavaskar was the most successful opening batsman of all time. His sublime technique and disciplined concentration made taking his wicket a near impossible task for bowlers. His record for most Test hundreds was only beaten recently by fellow Indian Sachin Tendulkar.
After retiring from Test cricket in 1987, he went on to be a cricket columnist and broadcaster and was also chairman of the ICC cricket committee. In this video, Gavaskar takes on some aggressive bowling.
