1. David Silva
Topping the list is another Spaniard (although did you know could have played for Japan?), David Silva. An injury at the start of this campaign has somewhat forced Silva from our thinking, particularly with the furore over Mesut Ozil’s arrival in the country.
But when fit, Silva remains the ultimate creator, capable of playing in a variety of advance positions and pulling the strings with a delightful intricacy that would make his (half Japanese) mother proud.
