Liverpool – Luis Suarez, Uruguay
The Reds also have a number of stars at the tournament and to be picked ahead of England captain Steven Gerrard takes something special – which is exactly what Suarez is.
Manchester City – Yaya Toure, Ivory Coast
Plenty of talent from the newly crowned English champions and whilst Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany were strong contenders, for his fantastic term in 2013/14 Toure takes it for us.
Manchester United – Robin van Persie, Netherlands
It was a two-horse race for this position, with Wayne Rooney narrowly missing out for his continued failure to perform on the international stage and therefore van Persie is our man.
Newcastle United – Mathieu Debuchy, France
Perhaps unsurprisingly there are a number of French players from Newcastle at the World Cup, what with manager Alan Pardew’s continued desire to sign them and right-back Debuchy is the best of the bunch.
