There were more than a few raised eyebrows when the Tigers paid Birmingham City £2.5m for journeyman defender Davies.
Yet the 29-year-old has brought a stability and organisation to the Hull back line that has helped the Yorkshire side to nine clean-sheets in 2013/14 and a decent league position.
