Ayrton Senna v Alain Prost
The famous rivalry started in 1988 when Senna first joined Prost at McLaren and the two clashed when the Brazilian tried to block the Frenchman during the Portuguese Grand Prix.
Things intensified a year later when Senna overtook Prost on the first corner of the San Marino race, despite an agreement between the two that this would not happen.
During the fight for the title in 1989 the two McLaren men collided, but the South American was able to continue and won the race – only to be disqualified for an illegal track move.
A year later Senna crashed into Prost and with the two being ruled out of the race the world championship went to the former once again – nearly moving the European to retire.
In 1994 the Brazilian was killed during a race, with Prost being a pallbearer at the funeral and stating a part of him also died that day.
