The German’s Dad is not happy with Perez’s comments.
There has been a lot of criticism thrown both ways since the sale of Mesut Ozil to Arsenal from Real Madrid and the midfielder’s Dad has slammed club president Florentino Perez.
After comments from Perez that Ozil was not a professional footballer, the 24-year-old’s father has responded with a scathing attack.
“Just because a man earns a lot of money, doesn’t mean he’s a man of honour, and Perez is no man of honour,” Ozil senior was quoted by ITV.
“If Mesut had an unprofessional life in Madrid, then why did he always play? They want to blame him now, because the fans and team-mates are angry.”
Key players at the Santiago Bernabeu such as Cristiano Ronaldo have expressed their annoyance at the Germany international having been sold.
In 159 matches for Los Blancos Ozil contributed an impressive 81 assists and the attacking midfielder and Ronaldo established a superb on-field bond.
Likewise, during the presentation of new world record signing Gareth Bale in the Spanish capital, Madrid fans were heard chanting the player’s name, as rumours had then emerged that the German would be sold.
Ozil became disillusioned at Los Merengues when players such as Bale and Isco arrived, with the star worrying there was too much competition for places.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger therefore saw an opportunity and convinced the ex-Madrid man to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
The arrival of Ozil has given fans in north London new belief that the club can compete for trophies once again.
