fanatix analyses the biggest transfer rumours involving Premier League clubs this summer
The Premier League’s biggest clubs have been linked with some huge transfers this summer, but with Radamel Falcao and Edison Cavani both having opted for Ligue 1, here at fanatix we wondered if any big players would actually be coming to the Premier League.
Here’s the five most major moves that are rumoured to be on, and our verdict of how likely they are to be completed.
Christian Eriksen – Ajax to Liverpool, £16m.
Having missed out on No.1 target Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Borussia Dortmund, there have been lots of rumours linking Ajax midfielder Eriksen with a switch to Anfield.
The 21-year-old has impressed in the Netherlands and the move has been sanctioned by the Dane’s current boss Frank De Boer, who admitted Eriksen could leave for Liverpool.
The attack-minded player has said he will only move from the Dutch champions for a club ‘bigger in every way’ – whether that includes the Reds is unknown.
Likeliness – 7/10.
Cesc Fabregas – Barcelona to Manchester United, £26m.
United are in a similar position to their Lancashire rivals having also missed out on their No.1 target, when Thiago Alcanatara chose Bayern Munich over Old Trafford.
However, rumours that Fabregas will be coming back to the Premier League have resurfaced once again and there doesn’t seem to be a publication in England not linking the Spaniard to the Red Devils.
Although the saying says there is no smoke without fire, this would be a surprising transfer as Barca have just sold one midfield playmaker in Thiago.
Likeliness – 5/10.
