The Dutchman is keen for progress to be made in acquiring new talent.
New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has laid down a challenge to chief executive Ed Woodward by naming the four signings he wants before the 2014 World Cup is over.
Van Gaal doesn’t take charge at Old Trafford properly until after the tournament as the 62-year-old is managing the Netherlands national team up until then.
However, that hasn’t stopped the Dutchman making demands of Woodward and the Reds Devils hierarchy and here are the four players the boss wants before the World Cup is up, according to the Mirror.
Mats Hummels, Borussia Dortmund
With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both leaving the Theatre of Dreams this summer, United are set to be left a little sparse in central defence.
That is why van Gaal has targeted world-class recruitment in the role in the shape of Dortmund and Germany defender Hummels.
