Manchester United are showing signs of steadying the ship following a dreadful start to the season under Louis van Gaal, but their defence still seems to be holding back one of the planet’s most exciting attacks from showing its true potential.
Van Gaal is expected to be busy once again in the January transfer window, but this is what we’d do if given a day in the Dutchman’s shoes:
In – Ezequiel Garay (Zenit St. Petersburg)
United really should’ve moved for Garay this summer when Zenit signed him from Benfica for just £12 million – a bargain fee for one of Europe’s most consistent centre backs. The fact that he plays with Marcos Rojo for Argentina is also a bonus and, if United can prise him away from the Russian club, they should do everything possible to make it happen.
