7) Jan Vertonghen – Tottenham

Tottenham could top this list if they hadn’t sold Gareth Bale in the summer, but most of the replacements they brought in (Roberto Soldado, Erik Lamela etc..) have failed to live up to their reputation or their price tag. Jan Vertonghen though has proven his undeniable quality in defence, and is one the country’s finest defenders.
