3. Samuel Eto’o – £70m
After earning handsome sums with Barcelona and Inter Milan, Eto’o was given a great retirement fund by Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in 2011 when they made the Cameroon international the highest paid player in history with annual earnings of £16.5m.
That dream may since have died, but now at Chelsea and seemingly winding down his career, arguably the greatest Africa footballer in history is looking good financially.
