United’s problems this season have stemmed from their shaky back line, that has not recovered from finding suitable replacements for the likes of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. Hummels has rightly been pinpointed as the right man to add some stability and class to their defence, though he won’t come cheap. Likely to follow Jurgen Klopp out of the club, Dortmund are in danger of becoming unravelled after a difficult campaign.
