Mourinho junior signs a one-year deal at Craven Cottage.
There could be a slight shock for Chelsea fans as Mourinho has joined Fulham – but not manager Jose, rather the coach’s 14-year-old son Jose Mario, reports the Daily Mail.
The goalkeeper has signed a one-year deal with the Blues’ west London rivals, as that is the maximum permitted deal a foreign youngster can be given at an English club.
The teenager previously played for Real Madrid’s youth side Canillas, but when Mourinho senior switched to Stamford Bridge the youngster also traveled to London.
There is a strong heritage of goalkeeping in the family, as the coach’s father and Jose Mario’s grandfather played in the 1970s and earned one gap between the sticks for the Portugal national team.
The Chelsea boss meanwhile didn’t enjoy much of a career in football and progressed through the ranks to management courtesy of being Sir Bobby Robson’s translator when the Englishman took charge of Barcelona.
Mourinho senior did have a brief spell as a central midfielder in the 1980s, but played less than 100 professional matches whilst at four different Portuguese sides.
