The prolific strikers that ply their trade in Europe.

All football fans enjoy a a hit-man who dazzles opposition defences and smashes the ball into the back of the net.

So fanatix has put together the top 10 goal-scorers in Europe from the 2012/13 season, including some familiar faces, a couple of stars on the rise and a new Premier League signings.

Jackson Martinez FC Porto

10. Jackson Martinez – FC Porto, 31 goals (26 Primeira LIga, 3 Champions League, 1 Portugal de Taca, 1 Supertaca)

The Colombian made a big noise during Martinez’s first season in European football following a £7.7m transfer from Mexican side Jaguares de Chiapas.

The 26-year-old was the top-scorer in Portugal with 26 league goals and has been noticed by some of the top sides across the continent.

Burak Yilmaz Galatasaray

9. Burak Yilmaz – Galatasaray, 32 goals (24 Superligaen, 8 Champions League)

Yilmaz is another striker who was spending their debut season at a club, with the Turkey international making an immediate impact at Gala.

The former Trabzonspor forward hit the ground running with the Turkish champions and the 28-year-old finished as the third highest scorer in the Champions League.

Radamel Falcao Atletico Madrid

8. Radamel Falcao – Atletico Madrid, 34 goals (28 La Liga, 2 Copa Del Rey, 1 Europa League, 3 UEFA Supercup)

The second Colombian on the list and now a new £50m signing for AS Monaco, Falcao has been utterly prolific for a number of seasons.

The 27-year-old scored 52 goals in two seasons with Atleti before the switch to Ligue 1 and 2012/13 was also highlighted with a hat-trick in the UEFA Supercup against Chelsea.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic PSG

7. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Paris Saint-Germain, 35 goals (30 Ligue 1, 3 Champions League, 2 Coupe de France)

Ibrahimovic has had a career filled with goals for some of Europe’s elite and a switch to PSG didn’t halt the Swede’s eye for goal.

The 31-year-old scored 30 league goals to help the Parisians to their first Ligue 1 title in 17 years.

Robert Lewandowski Borussia Dortmund

6. Robert Lewandowski – Borussia Dortmund, 36 goals (24 Bundesliga, 10 Champions League, 1 DFB Pokel, 1 German Supercup)

The 24-year-old has become hot property in European football after a truly outstanding season with the Champions League runners-up.

10 goals in that competition made Lewandowski the tournament’s second highest scorer – which included four against Real Madrid in the semi-final first-leg.

Wilfried Bony Vitesse Arnhem

5. Wilfried Bony – Vitesse Arnhem, 37 goals (31 Eredivisie, 4 KNVB Baker, 2 Europa League qualifiers)

The first striker on the list to score more league goals than games played with the Ivorian netting 31 in the Netherlands top tier in 30 matches.

Bony has now become a club record signing for Premier League outfit Swansea City and the 24-year-old will be hoping to transfer the form to England.

Edinson Cavani Napoli

4. Edinson Cavani – Napoli, 37 goals (29 Serie A, 7 Europa League, 1 Coppa Italia)

Cavani has been truly prolific for Napoli in the three years the Uruguayan has spent at the club and this form earned the 26-year-old a colossal £55m transfer to PSG this summer.

The forward was unsurprisingly the top-scorer in Italy last season and will now compete with another from this list, Ibrahimovic, at the Parc des Princes.

Philipp Hosiner Austria

3. Philipp Hosiner – Austria Vienna & FC Admira Wacker Modling, 39 goals (32 Bundesliga, 5 OFB-Cup, 2 Europa League qualifiers)

Perhaps a slightly unfair addition as Hosiner played for two clubs last season, scoring nine goals in 11 matches for Modling before a £600,000 transfer to Austria Wien.

That price is looking like a steal now that the Austria international is the third highest scorer in the whole of Europe though.

Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid

2. Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid, 55 goals (34 La Liga, 12 Champions League, 7 Copa Del Rey, 2 Supercopa)

As expected there is a huge jump to the La Liga superstars as Ronaldo comes in at No.2 after another outstanding season at Santiago Bernabeu.

The 28-year-old finished as the top-scorer in the Champions League and second in Spain, with an £80m world record transfer four years ago looking more and more justified.

Lionel Messi Barcelona

1. Lionel Messi – FC Barcelona, 60 goals (46 La Liga, 8 Champions League, 4 Copa Del Rey, 2 Supercopa)

There seems to be no stopping the amazing Argentine, as another mind-blowing season saw Messi storm the Spanish top tier with 46 goals and finish joint third in the Champions League with eight.

The 26-year-old keeps pipping Ronaldo to the Ballon D’Or after winning it four years running, although with Bayern Munich recording a famous treble it could well be a star from Germany this year.
