5. Mattia De Sciglio – AC Milan – 20 years old
A product of the Milan youth system, Mattia De Sciglio emerged alongside Stephan El Shaarawy last season as the club overcame their initial struggles.
It was a bitterly difficult start to the season for the Rossoneri, who were not only stripped of their most prized assets in Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but were forced to part company with the likes of Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf and Pippo Inzaghi.
However, De Sciglio appears to have established himself within the long-term vision of the club, as they look to invest in youth and build for the future.
Lazy comparisons have been made to Paolo Maldini, but the 20-year-old will be keen to make a name for himself whilst securing the left-back position for years to come. Having impressed last year, he will be expected to develop and mature further as he also becomes a regular for the Azzurri.
