4. Mateo Kovacic – Inter – 19 years old
The Croatian starlet was a significant positive in an otherwise miserable season for Inter, who split with coach Andrea Stramaccioni and will begin a new era under Walter Mazzarri.
The former Napoli boss will have quickly established that this deep-lying playmaker has all the characteristics to become a complete midfielder, demonstrating his eye for a pass while also working tirelessly in the middle of the pitch.
Kovacic is still only 19 years old, but he is likely to continue to improve with more playing time and will most probably be given the opportunity to lead Inter next season as they look to improve on a disappointing ninth-placed finish last year.
Several of Europe’s top clubs monitored him ahead of his move to Milan, and it is expected that he will continue to show exactly why he was in such high demand.
