40. Gerard Pique, Barcelona
The Spain international has cut something of a lonely figure at the back for the Catalans as whilst his class is obvious, the support for Pique is often woeful.
39. Mario Mandzukic, Bayern Munich
Often an overlooked figure at the Allianz Arena due to the abundance of talent there, but 26 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions cannot be knocked.
38. Diego Godin, Atletico Madrid
In what has been a fantastic season for Atleti they have relied strongly on a defensive line lead brilliantly by this Uruguayan.
37. Angel Di Maria, Real Madrid
It really has been a fine year for Madrid and they could well win the treble if things go their way and despite many thinking Di Maria may have become a peripheral figure, the Argentine has been a stalwart.
36. Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool
Well even though it looks as if the Reds won’t win the Premier League after all, their goal-scoring has been a joy to behold and Sturridge has netted an impressive 21 league goals already.
