6. Franco Barest/Paolo Maldini/Mauro Tassotti – AC Milan
The second set of Italian defenders in the list, and undoubtedly the classiest. The trio were part of why the Italians were so difficult to break down between the last 80s and early 90s, as Baresi and Maldini shared an almost telepathic understanding of the game, and had the brutish but effective Tassotti backing them up.
