The best lineup that can be made from the new faces in the English top tier.
After a busy summer of transfer dealings in the Premier League, fanatix makes the ultimate XI from all the new star purchases made in England.
GK – Simon Mignolet: The new Liverpool stopper was a £9m purchase from Sunderland and immediately proved the Belgian’s worth by saving a penalty against Stoke City in the opening weekend.
CB – Kolo Toure: Another Reds signing and one who was perhaps seen more as a squad player than an influential presence, Toure has proved the doubters wrong with some fine performances.
CB – Jores Okore: The young Norwegian turned down Chelsea before making the switch to Aston Villa and although the club have failed to keep a clean-sheet as yet, at 21-years-old Okore is a great prospect.
CB – Dejan Lovren: Lovren was bought in by manager Mauricio Pochettino to stabilise a shaky Southampton defence and just two goals conceded in three matches isn’t a bad start.
CM – Paulinho: The Brazil international was a club record signing for Tottenham before Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela then both broke it, but the midfielder already looks strong and assured.
CM – Leroy Fer: Everton almost signed Fer back in January before a recurring knee issue forced the Toffees to pull out, but if Norwich City can keep the midfielder fit the club have a real talent on their hands.
RM – Jesus Navas: Many were surprised when firstly, notoriously timid traveler Navas made the switch to Manchester City and secondly, that it only cost £14.9m. A genuine top-class player.
CAM – Mesut Ozil: It seems that every football fan in England is talking about what Ozil is going to achieve at Arsenal, but the German is perhaps the most exciting signing the division has ever seen.
LM – Emanuele Giaccherini: Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio used the 45-year-old’s contacts to bring Italy international Giaccherini to the Stadium of Light and it is a great coup for the club.
ST – Samuel Eto’o: Although now 32-years-old, signing prolific striker Eto’o on a free transfer is a good deal in any football expert’s mind. Some nice negotiation work by Chelsea.
ST – Romelu Lukaku: Technically it’s an all-Blues front-line as Lukaku has joined Everton on-loan, but after 17 league goals with West Bromwich Albion last term the Belgian represents a great addition to Roberto Martinez’s side.
