Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller claims turning down Man United move was easy
Bayern Munich star striker Thomas Muller revealed that he has a special relationship with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal that dates back to his early years with the club, but denied that it means he’s thinking of transferring.
“Louis van Gaal and I have a relationship that goes beyond that which is normal between a player and a coach,” Muller said, according to the Manchester Evening News. “However, I have a contract with Bayern until 2017.”
Van Gaal was in his first year as the manager of Bayern Munich when he gave Muller his big break and started him for 34 games in each of his seasons with the club. On the international level, Muller became a star for the German National Team, recording 27 goals since 2010 and 5 goals during their 2014 FIFA World Cup Championship run.
Manchester United is reportedly looking into possible replacements for Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie should they fail to impress in the final leg of the season – which would prompt plenty of speculation about reuniting the Man United club boss with one of his greatest proteges.
Van Gaal’s club is looking to make a major spending spree this summer and is eager to get back to the top of the mountain in the Premier League and the Champions League.
