Manchester United are reportedly preparing a massive offer for Bayern Munich in the hope of securing Thomas Muller‘s signature.

According to German television station Sport 1, Louis van Gaal is currently readying an ambitious €82m bid (£58m) after it was revealed that the forward had a training ground bust-up with manager Pep Guardiola on Monday.
Sport 1 claim that the relationship between the pair has been unsteady since last season when the Spaniard substituted Muller in the Champions League semi-final versus Barcelona, and again in the DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund.
The report suggests that Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Red Devils vice-president Ed Woodward have held initial talks about the Germany international, although they state that this piece of information is unconfirmed.
The 25-year-old’s contract isn’t set to expire until 2019 [via The Guardian], and he could therefore be difficult to prize away from Munich.
Nonetheless, Van Gaal is said to have an excellent relationship with Muller following the former Netherlands manager’s two-year spell in charge of the Bavarians, and the player himself has even admitted his flattery at suggestions the Premier League giants are interested in signing him this summer [via the Daily Star].
In 197 appearances for Bayern, the versatile attacker has won four Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokals, two DFL-Supercups, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.
Muller is the third Bayern player to be linked with swapping the Allianz Arena for Old Trafford, with Bastian Schweinsteiger said to be on van Gaal’s transfer wish list [via the Metro], while Mario Gotze has recently emerged as a target following his agent’s stunning revelations that his client isn’t receiving support from the Bundesliga giants [via the Telegraph].
