ST: Alexandre Lacazette – Lyon
Fee: £22m (Daily Express)
Henry’s most stinging criticism after the Chelsea game came when he questioned whether Arsenal could actually win the title with Olivier Giroud at their helm.
There’s no question that Giroud has had a quite stunning season and, over his three-year spell at the Emirates, has improved annually. But as Henry says is this good enough?
By himself? Probably not. But if Giroud could work in tandem with a striker of differing abilities, one who would be the antithesis to his powering hold-up play and towering aerial ability.
A signing like Lacazette would be just the ticket, someone with genuine pace, power and drive who can break opposition lines – like Chelsea’s yesterday, instead of be dominated by the likes of Cahill and Terry – and be a more mobile threat upfront.
