Premier League duo Hull City and Aston Villa have joined La Liga side Valencia in the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, who is free to leave Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order.
According to Sky Sports reports there has been contact made between Hull and United, as well as an undisclosed offer from Steve Bruce’s side.
Bruce told Sky Sports News HQ: “There has been conversations between the two clubs and we did have some sort of offer, but where we are up to between the two clubs I am not too sure because I have been away in London. If there is a deal to be done to try and get somebody like Tom then of course we would be interested.”
The Independent reported on Valencia’s interest. In an interview back in February, Cleverley had hinted that his style was more suited to Spain, and the La Liga side are clearly hoping to exploit that interest.
Meanwhile, the Guardian believes Cleverley has met with Aston Villa’s assistant manager Roy Keane to discuss a move to Villa Park.
The 25-year-old has made 54 Premier League appearances for United since making his debut in 2009. He has been capped 13 times by England, but was left out of Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad earlier this year.
