The Spaniard earned a starting spot following a brilliant goal midweek in the League Cup against Arsenal, but did nothing to prove to Jose Mourinho he should be there every week. The Portuguese boss hauled him off after the hour mark, after he did very little of note for a Chelsea side who looked completely out of sorts.
