3) Fabio Borini – Sunderland
When the young Italian forward started the Tyneside derby on the bench, few would have believed he’d go on to have the match-winning impact he did. Borini came on towards the end in Gus Poyet’s first home match, and pounced on a loose ball to fire an outstanding winner into the top corner with the outside of his boot. His emotional celebration showed just how much it meant to him, as he has badly struggled with injuries and poor form since moving to Liverpool from Roma in summer 2012. Fair play to the lad.
