Bellew issues warning to Cleverly: Bellew tells rival to be “careful what you wish for”.
Tony Bellew will face bitter rival Nathan Cleverly at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on November 22 after promoter Eddie Hearn officially announced the date on Twitter on Monday morning.
After Cleverly defeated Bellew in their initial bout back in 2011, the rivalry between the two has simmered on after the latter insisted that the Welshman failed to fulfil his promise of a rematch.
Coupled with general disrespect in the aftermath of that fight, Bellew has made no secret of his hatred for Cleverly, while the former light-heavyweight world champion is equally as desperate to knock him out.
Nevertheless, they will now have the opportunity to settle their differences on November 22, with Hearn expected to announce another great undercard to treat British boxing fans to another great night of action.
The pair will be on media duty on Wednesday when they will hold two separate press conferences, one in Liverpool and one in Cardiff, while tickets will be on general sale on Wednesday, with Matchroom fight pass members having an opportunity to buy the day before.
Although this fight will not bring in the numbers of the Carl Froch and George Groves rematch at Wembley earlier this year, the genuine bad blood between Bellew and Cleverly will ensure that interest is high and the build-up as well as the fight itself promises to be explosive.
Naturally, Hearn amongst others will hope that it doesn’t spill over in the press conference which would inevitably lead to bad headlines, but he can expect a controversial build-up that will receive widespread coverage as these two cruiserweights look to finally settle their rivalry.
