7. Wasim Akram – Pakistan
Arguably the best swing bowler to ever play the game, Wasim Akram could make a cricket ball do seemingly impossible things on its journey down the 22 yards in front of him.
Playing at a time when the term ‘reverse swing’ was relatively new in the vernacular of cricket players, Akram was already a master at it.
Able to move the ball both ways in the air, along with very late movement as well, the left-armer had express pace early in his career to go with the accuracy needed to get the most out of a swinging ball.
And while injuries curtailed his pace later in his career, he was still able to frustrate batsman with his line and length, as he also bowled exceptionally well from around-the-wicket to right-hand batsmen.
Rated as the best one-day bowlers of all time by the ICC, Akram was also one of the best ever in white clothes, as he earned 414 wickets from 104 Test matches at an average of 23.62.
