Quite simply, Vince Carter’s performance in the 2000 dunk contest was breathtaking.
The explosive small forward/guard from the Toronto Raptors burst onto scene to be one of the most explosive athletes seen in the NBA since a guy named Jordan made his debut.
After the dunk contest fell to the wayside during the dark years of the lockout in the last 1990’s it was revived in the best possible way through the efforts of Carter.
From the outset Carter set the bar ridiculously high for the rest of the field as he glided in and threw down a 360 windmill dunk that set the crowd on fire.
From there Carter was a twisting, turning and slamming symphony on the court that will forever be etched in the minds of basketball fans.
