3. Dominique Wilkins 1985, 1990
One of the premier athletes and dunkers of the 1980s, Dominique Wilkins won two dunk titles in 1985 and in 1990 and his head-to-head battles against Michael Jordan became the stuff of legends.
Wilkins won the second incarnation of the contest in ’85 when he is was kick-started and was hot favourite to claim the title again the following year, only to be upset by his Atlanta teammate Spud Webb.
In 1998 Wilkins was unlucky not to win another crown when he was just defeated by Jordan in the final round, thanks in part to him only getting a 45 for his amazing third round drunk, when many tipped it to be given a perfect 50.
Regardless of the controversy, Wilkins was poetry in motion in game and in set-pieces like the dunk contest.
