Mercurial Brazilian Junino returned to Middlesborough not twice, but three times during a career that was defined by his love for the north-east club. Despite wowing Premier League fans with his brilliance, the playmaker could not prevent Boro’s relegation in 1997 but returned on loan in 1999 following the club’s return to the top flight. He signed again permanently in 2002, scoring 11 goals in 41 appearances, and was voted the Teesiders’ greatest ever player shortly afterwards.
