Liverpool will be understandably delighted that they elected against selling Luis Suarez in the summer. The centre forward was linked with Arsenal up until the transfer window closed in September, with the Gunners even bidding the comical sum of £40,000,001 due to a seemingly invalid release clause.
With a retained Suarez in the side however, the Reds have flourished, and have overtaken their old rivals Manchester United in fine style to challenge for the Premier League title, competing against the oil riches of Manchester City and Chelsea through pace, movement and fluid formation switches.
Suarez and his strike partner Daniel Sturridge are the two top scorers in the division, and although Liverpool have often been suspect at the back (going behind twice and conceding three goals against 19th placed Cardiff City), their attack more than makes up for it (Cardiff were eventually defeated 6-3 with Suarez getting a hat-trick).
Suarez is brilliant with either foot, a wonderful dribbler, and takes more shots than any other Premier League player.
Though he has failed to score in the big games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City, his performances in those matches suggest that is mere anomaly, and besides, a player capable of dominating the minnows of the English top flight in such style remains an incredibly useful asset.
