5) Villarreal – 10 goals
La Liga’s surprise package – newly promoted Villarreal won their opening three matches, and drew at home to Real Madrid at the weekend when they were arguably the better side. Ex-Tottenham player Giovanni Dos Santos has been mightily impressive, and Los Amarillos could soon set their sights higher than merely avoiding relegation.
4) Bayer Leverkusen – 11 goals
The second of three German sides on this list – Leverkusen have started the season fantastically, winning four of their five matches, scoring 11 times in the process, under ex-Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia.
3) Atletico Madrid – 14 goals
A fantastic start from Diego Simeone’s side has seen them win four from four, sitting joint top of la Liga table. With 14 goals, Atletico are proving there is life after Radamel Falcao, who joined Monaco for huge money in the summer.
2) Barcelona – 14 goals
The only surprise here is that the brilliant Catalan side are second in this list and not first. Messi has scored six in the league already, with Barcelona winning every match they have played.
1) Borussia Dortmund – 15 goals
The Champions League runners up have started the Bundesliga in scintillating form – winning all of their matches, and bagging 15 goals in the process. Roberto Lewandowski and new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in devastatingly good form. Can they stop treble-winners Bayern Munich from retaining their title…?
