Joe Spence played for Manchester United during one of their most tumultuous periods, as between the World Wars the club yo-yoing between First and Second Divisions while he was at Old Trafford.
Spence was such a great goalscorer from the right wing, earning the nickname “Mr. Soccer” as well as the chant “Give it to Joe”.
After the Second World War, Matt Busby brought Spence back to the club in order to coach and scout opposition.
