3. Chelsea
Chances created: 305
Chances converted into goals: 25
Chance conversion: 8.2%
Chelsea have created the second most chances in the Premier League this season, but the west London side’s conversion rate is far worse than either of their two title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.
That means that the Blues must create a great deal more opportunities than the Gunners and Citizens to score the same amount of goals, and increased efficiency will be Jose Mourinho’s target for the remainder of the season.
That will likely mean the acquisition of a top class attacker in the summer, with none of the Stamford Bridge centre forwards particularly convincing.
Samuel Eto’o, Chelsea’s highest scoring striker in the Premier League, has only scored in four of the club’s 23 matches, and goal have largely had to come from other areas of the team.
Eden Hazard, Oscar, Frank Lampard, Andre Schurrle and Willian have all popped up with goals in crucial moments – as have defenders John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic.
It was the Serbian’s half volley that defeated Manchester City, and Chelsea’s record in big matches could win them and Mourinho the Premier League title.
