1. Tottenham Hotspur
Transfer fees received since 2008/09: €322.1 million
The world record transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid of course accounts for a great deal of Tottenham Hotspur’s revenue, but the north London club – notoriously tough negotiators in the market – have made plenty of other big sales.
Steven Caulker, Clint Dempsey, Tom Huddlestone and Scott Parker also brought in decent fees last summer, while the previous year Luka Modric, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Steven Pienaar, Niko Kranjcar and Vedran Corluka were sold.
Spurs’ consistent ability to gain good fees for their players has allowed them to reinvest in the squad and keep them competitive, and while Bale has proved difficult to replace, it isn’t unimaginable to see them bouncing back impressively next season.
