One of the most well-known footballers around the world, Wambach is going into her fourth World Cup. She is a six-time winner of the U.S Soccer Athlete of the Year award and winner of the 2012 FIFA World Player of the Year. Wambach has definitely proved to be a world-renowned player. The 34-year-old may not see as much playing time this year as she is getting older, but look for her to be a powerful second half substitute for the U.S.
1. Marta (Brazil)
Marta is not a surprise for most to be topping this list. She is, without a doubt, the best woman footballer in the world. She was named the FIFA World Player of the Year five consecutive years between 2006-2010. She also tops the all–time Women’s World Cup goalscorer list. What can’t she do? She hasn’t won a World Cup….yet at least.
