4. Ander Herrera
United’s first signing of the summer hasn’t had much in the way of competition for best new addition at Old Trafford at least with Di Maria, Falcao, Luke Shaw, Rojo and Daley Blind all proving at times to be a tad dodgy.
It certainly took him a while to earn Louis van Gaal’s trust but his neat and tidy possession, meticulous and clever passing and penchant for a goal have made him the driving force behind United’s late revival that almost got them into third place and challenging at the very top of the league.
3. Alexis Sanchez
Following a sensational World Cup for Chile, there was understandable excitement when Arsenal managed to snag the Barcelona man for a not too immodest fee.
His unplayable early season form, that dragged Arsenal through their quagmire of poor form, has since slowed but Sanchez is a key reason the Gunners are heading to Wembley for a second straight season and managed to automatically qualify for the Champions League.
