5. Lack of chemistry – With so many free agents and rookies making up the starting roster there is very little active chemistry with this team. Many are learning the Raiders’ offensive or defensive system for the first time, others are learning what an NFL system is for their first time. This means it may take a very long time for the team to get in sync and be able to stay mistake free.
4. Inexperience – As mentioned in chemistry, the lack of chemistry may be a problem, but the lack of NFL playing time may be worse. The rookies who are likely to have at least 3 key starting positions (QB Derek Carr, OLB Khalil Mack, G Gabe Jackson) may have been stars in college but came from very simple systems where they were able to thrive rather easily. Carr and Mack may have the tools to thrive, but it is hard to imagine they will be able to dominate the league. And even if they are, it is hard to imagine they will be able to lead the Raiders to wins on their own.
