The Old Lady is the third highest Italian club, and has won two consecutive Serie A titles. Worldwide support dwindled following the match fixing allegations some years back that led to league demotion, however.
9) Bayern Munich – 24m supporters
With the brilliant Pep Guardiola in charge on the touchline, and Bayern’s all conquering outfit on it – the German champions are only likely to gain more fans in the coming years.
8) Inter Milan – 49m supporters
The thee time European Cup winners have just received enormous investment from an Indonesian billionaire, and could enter the transfer market ambitiously in January. Enjoyed a brilliant two seasons under Jose Mourinho not so long ago.
7) Liverpool – 71m supporters
Famously one of the most supported clubs, according to this report Liverpool are only the fourth most supported club in world football. Have an enormous following the Far East and Asia however, and recently filled out a 90,000 seater stadium in Australia.
6) AC Milan – 99m supporters
The highest Italian club on the list, AC Milan have won seven European Cups throughout their glittering history. Their team of the early 90s is widely regarded as one of the greatest club side of all time.
5) Arsenal – 113m supporters
Arsenal haven’t won anything for eight seasons under veteran boss Arsene Wenger, but have still established a monstrous worldwide fan-base of over 100m supporters.
4) Chelsea – 135m
The Blues have marketed themselves around the world quite brilliantly since Roman Abramovich bought the club ten years ago. In 2011, they won their maiden Champions League title, cementing their reputation as a world football powerhouse.
3) Real Madrid – 174m
The most successful club in the history of European football, Los Blancos have won nine European Cups, and have broke the world transfer record on four consecutive occasions.
2) Barcelona – 270m
Rarely has a club side ever played more consistent, beautiful football than the current Barca outfit do, inspired by the brilliant trio of Andres Iniesta, Xavi, and arguably the greatest player ever born: Lionel Messi.
1) Manchester United – 354m
Worldwide, the Red Devils can boast a ludicrous 354m fans. They’ve won 20 domestic league titles, three European Cups, and can boast the most successful club manager of all time in the recently retired Sir Alex Ferguson. Fairly big club!
