1. Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao)
Aymeric Laporte is only the second French player ever to play for Athletic Bilbao thanks to their policy of only selecting players of Basque origin, but has demonstrated considerable potential since being given his debut in 2012 by coach Marcelo Bielsa.
The 19 year-old is now excellent in the air, having previously struggled with high balls, and reads the game brilliantly.
Laporte times his tackles superbly, and his ability to fill in at left back on occasion is another string to his bow.
The Frenchman has been linked with the likes of FC Barcelona and Arsenal this summer, and his reputation – and likely price tag – continue to rise.
