6. Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo)
A 15 year-old Domenico Berardi only earned his first chance with a professional club due to a chance five a side game against friends of his brother Francesco, who he was visiting at university.
One of Francesco’s friends got Berardi a trial at nearby Sassuolo, which he aced, and he became the club’s joint top scorer in his debut season in Serie B.
That prompted Juventus to purchase a co-ownership option, and Berardi’s form upon promotion to Serie A makes that appear a worthwhile purchase.
Playing across the front three positions, Berardi has managed 12 goals and three assists in 21 Serie A appearances, and looks to have a very bright future indeed.
