7. Leicester City is a club no one will want to play next year
If you were to be asked which club went 7-1-1 in their final nine games of the season, would your first guess be the Premier League Champion Chelsea or the former No. 20 on the table Leicester City?
The answer would be Leicester City and that lone loss in the last nine games was actually against Chelsea. It took them a very long while and there were constant fears during the Winter months that Leicester City would be relegated, but manager Nigel Pearson was resilient and got his club to go on an offensive explosion at the right time to finish the season smack in the middle of the table. An impressive ascension indeed.
6. Manchester United is a Champ at home, but a paper tiger on the road
It’s hard for a team to be taken seriously when they can’t win on the road. And that nearly became a theme for Manchester United during critical moments of the season. With a 6-8-5 record on the road, Man U has fewer road wins than Tottenham, Liverpool, Southampton, Swansea and Crystal Palace. It’s no wonder that they finished a somewhat distant fourth behind Arsenal and Manchester City on the table.
Contrast that with their 14-2-3 home record – second only to Chelsea and Man City – and Manchester United looks like they’re a few goals short of stardom. Whatever mental blocks Man U has on the road need to get resolved before next season if they want to be a serious contender for the title again.
