2. QB Tony Romo, Cowboys
If the Detroit Lions really were one of the top defenses in the NFL then Tony Romo certainly didn’t notice. After a miserable first quarter to just shake out the cobwebs Romo torched the vaunted Lions defense with 293 yards, 2 TDs, 61% completion and a 114.0 passer rating to cap the day against the Lions. Romo also avenged two of his previous seasons of one-and-done in the playoffs by leading the Cowboys to just their second playoff win in the last 17 years. But now he gets to bring his perfect 8-0 road record to Green Bay, where QB Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are an equally perfect 8-0 at home. Something’s gonna give.
1. QB Andrew Luck, Colts
The narrative that Andrew Luck will one day be a Hall of Fame-caliber QB gained headway with his incredible performance over the Cincinnati Bengals this past week. With 376 passing yards, over 70% completion, a TD and a 104.0 passer rating it’s easy to see why Andrew Luck is considered the fasting rising star in football. Since joining the league in 2012 he has led the Colts to 3 straight playoff appearance and 3 straight playoff victories in the first round. His 36-yard TD pass to Donte Moncrief in the 3rd quarter was about as good a throw as any QB has made in the NFL all season. While the Colts may not have the talent to be considered a legitimate threat to the Ravens, Patriots or Broncos, with Andrew Luck at the helm, anything is possible.
