16) Denilson
Not not the Arsenal fella, though he is incredibly overrated too. The original Denilson didn’t achieve that much throughout his career despite that world record fee and those incredible skills.
Didn’t live up to the promise of his £21.5 million fee at Betis despite the World Cup he won in 2002.
15) David Ginola
On his day…you know the saying…but his days were few and far between. The almost lackadaisical, cool attitude he purveyed promoted the idea he was a luxury player who looked good on Match of the Day but offered rather little else.
14) Wayne Rooney
It’s difficult to know if Rooney is actually as good as many think he is or if he is still living on the reputation of his younger years when he was touted as some kind of prodigy.
But just look at his career stats, his honours, his poor record internationally and his complete lack of fitness for most of his career, is this befitting of a great?
13) Adriano
The ability to score from miles out occasionally does not a great player make.
Adriano had the ability but never the discipline to become a world beater.
