4. Arsenal (£1326m)
Officially London’s oldest football league club, (Tottenham was part of Hertfordshire in 1882) Arsenal have long been a well run club – not least when moving from Highbury to a new stadium at Ashburton Grove.
The Gunners may not have won a trophy for the last eight years, but remained competitive throughout that period thanks to the intelligent transfer business with a limited budget from manager Arsene Wenger, and the stylishly attacking football played under the French coach makes them a hit with fans worldwide.
Furthermore, the freeing of the pursestrings has now resulted in huge outlays for Mesut Ozil, meaning the Gunners could once again compete with the elite.
